Still just a wannabe food blogger.

Taking photosThis is part of a sponsored campaign with Being Latino and Cox Communications. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

When people ask me what I do for a living, I have a hard time giving them a single answer. I have so many jobs that if I simply say, “I’m a dietitian,” that only explains what all of my jobs focus on…but it doesn’t describe exactly what I do. I want to tell people that I am a food blogger, but I don’t blog full time (or even part-time–as far as hourly jobs go). I want to tell people that I am a healthy cooking class teacher, but I only teach classes a few times a month. I’ll often tell people that I am a nutrition counselor, a health and nutrition writer, an amateur recipe developer and food photographer and speaker. When my mind and my mouth start to ramble on and on about all the fun things I do as a dietitian, I get some pretty interesting facial expressions in return–wide-eyed and opened-mouthed are among the most common. I don’t intend to come off as a bragger when I mention my laundry list of jobs, I just get a little excited when I talk about my work. Frankly, I feel lucky that I get to do what I love in so many different ways.

This month I am part of the #CoxGIGlife campaign. This time around they want to know about a project I’m working on that their ultra fast connection (up to 100 times faster than average broadband!) has allowed me more time to accomplish. My first thought was, where do I start?! These days I have about five different projects going at once, but the one project that is consistently on my “to do” list, the one I have the most fun (and least time) to work on is blogging.

As much as I want to consider myself a food blogger, I know that among the ranks, I’m pretty low on the totem pole. Even though I’ve had my blog for a few years now, family and work commitments don’t allow me the time and energy it requires to publish weekly (or even monthly) posts–but that doesn’t mean I don’t love the process! From the creation of each recipe, to the storytelling, to the photography and creative process of composing the entire post, I do it all myself. I get excited and nervous before I click on the publish tab because every post truly is a labor of love.

The post I’m working on now (teaser photo above!) is inspired by The Cranberry Institute and I’ve had lots of fun working on it! Thanks to the amazingly fast connection that Cox One GIG internet offers, I was able to download some of my favorite music to work to (rock en Español, anyone?) and upload my food photos in a flash! Did you know that with Cox One GIG Internet you can download up to 100 songs in 3 seconds and upload 1,000 photos in about a minute? Amazing service like this helps me do more of what I love in less time.

Who knows, with all of this efficiency, I may start busting out tons of new recipes and posts about health and nutrition! And maybe, juuuust maybe I’ll soon be able to call myself a true blue and bona fied food blogger!
